Information for MWE 2009 Workshop Digest Authors

The MWE 2009 workshop digest will be published both in a printed book and a CD-ROM.
Please read the instructions carefully when you prepare your manuscript.  An electronic manuscript should be submitted by email and both a hard copy and a copyright transfer form should be submitted by post.

Language

All manuscripts for the Keynote Address, Workshops, and the Focus Session should be prepared either in English or Japanese.  But if the whole session is supposed to be proceeded in English, the manuscripts must be written in English only.

Tutorial Lectures should be in Japanese.

When the manuscript is written in Japanese, the title and names of authors and their affiliations should be written both in English and Japanese. Also, an English abstract should accompany the manuscript.

Length of Manuscript

  • Keynote Address : an even number of pages, up to 6 (either in English or Japanese)
  • Workshops : an even number of pages, up to 6 (either in English or Japanese)
  • Special Session : an even number of pages, up to 6 (either in English or Japanese)
  • Tutorial Lectures :an even number of pages, up to 10 (Japanese)

Style

Please refer to the layout of the model manuscript.

  • Paper size should be A4.
  • Printing should be in black
    Font sizes should be: Title: 16 point
    Names of authors and affiliations: 10.5 point
    Text: 10.5 point (rough standard)
  • The title should be centered on the page using upper-case letters. The names of authors and the affiliation should be placed below the title and also centered.
  • An abstract of less than 80 words should be prepared in English for Workshops, Special Session and Tutorial lectures.  The abstract should be centered on the page, below the names of authors and the affiliations.
  • Figure captions and numbers should be placed below the figure and table titles above the tables.
  • References should be placed at the end of the paper, following the text.  Please refer to the sample form for further details.

Electronic version of manuscript

The electronic form of the manuscript for CD-ROM should be submitted by e-mail (mwe2009@apmc-mwe.org ) attachment after the paper registration via web page.
Please be sure to follow the instructions below regarding the file format when you prepare your electronic version to avoid possible problems in the production of the CD-ROM.
  • Colored figures or pictures are recommended in the electronic versions. They will enhance the finish of the paper, but please note that the printed version will be in black and white.
  • Please use Times New Roman in Windows and Times for Macintosh to prepare English language manuscripts.
    Also, for figures and tables, you should use either Arial or Times New Roman in Windows and either Helvetica or Times for Macintosh.For Greek letters, please use Symbol. Particularly note that files prepared using Japanese fonts cannot be read using the English version of Acrobat Reader.
  • File format should be in PDF (Adobe Acrobat). When preparing the PDF file, please make sure to embed the fonts to ensure proper file display.
  • Name files to identify the division of sessions, session numbers, lecture number and lecturer, with reference to the following example. The acronym for
    Keynote Address is KA,  Workshop, WS,  Special Session, SS,  Tutorial Lecture, TL,  respectively.

    e.g; WS01-01(Kawai).pdf
           ("WS01" represents the session number,  "01" the presentation order in the session,
           and "(Kawai)" the lecturer's family name.)
  • File size should be under 1MB where possible.

Paper Manuscript

The final manuscript for printing should be produced from the electronic version.
  • Print the electronic manuscript in black and white on A4 size paper (plain white). Where color figures cannot be printed satisfactorily in monochrome, replace them with figures produced in black and white.
  • Page numbers should be written on the upper right corner in pencil.
  • If the manuscript contains photographs, send them with the printed manuscript for clean finishing.

Copyright Transfer Form

Please fill out the “COPYRIGHT TRANSFER FORM” on the screen.  Then, print out the form, put your signature on it, and send it to us together with the hard copy manuscript.

Summary of requirements for submission of manuscripts

Electronic submission: Electronic manuscript and slide file (both should be in PDF form)
Post: One copy of camera-ready manuscript and “COPYRIGHT TRANSFER FORM”.

Due Date

  • Electronic Manuscript:No later than August 25, 2009.
  • One copy of the paper and a signed “COPYRGHT TRANSFER FORM”:No later than August 31, 2009.

Audiovisual equipment

A PC and a projector are available in the conference rooms.
Please bring your presentation materials to the conference site in a CD-R or a USB Memory Stick, or else, you can bring your own PC.

Attention

  • Should the submitted manuscript be inadequate, for example, the fonts are not embedded, the manuscript will be replaced by a scanned version. Please note that the scanned paper could be of lower resolution in printing and displaying.
