Technical Paper Submission

Instructions for authors

Manuscript Preparation: The language of the conference is English. The text should be formatted single-spaced and sized for 21.5 ~ 28 cm ( 8.5 ~ 11 inch) paper. The title should be centered 2.5 cm from the top of the first page. The authors' names and complete organizational affiliations, including phone/fax numbers and e-mail address if available, should be one line below the title. The text should start from two lines below the last author's information. Left- and right-hand margins should be 3.0 cm. A 2.5 cm margin should be at the top and bottom of all pages. Double space should be given between paragraphs. Only the corresponding author will receive an acknowledgement of the submission.
The submission paper must be limited to four pages including text, references, and figures. The introduction should indicate clearly how the submission relates to previous work and the unique aspects of the current submission. The submission is divided into two categories: Regular Session and Open Forum. The category preferred for the paper should be marked/indicated in the paper registration on the web or in the transmittal letter.

Electronic Communication: Complete information on how to submit a paper and register for the conference, as well as other important information, can be found at the conference website. Electronic communication allows more time to submit papers, and enables us to send faster acknowledgements and to provide you with up-to-date information on conference events.

Electronic Submission: This year we will use electronic web-based paper submission, but hardcopy paper submissions will also be accepted to avoid unpredictable electronic submission troubles. Technical papers for APMC 2002 are strongly recommended to be submitted via the website (e-TePS). Authors are urged to use *.pdf as the file format, but *.doc (after version 6.0) is also acceptable. Instructions on how to submit papers online are available on the conference website. No hard copy needs to be submitted before it is reviewed, if the electronic submission option is chosen. FAX AND E-MAIL SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The following steps must be followed by the primary author to submit a paper to the conference:

  1. Author registration form: title, author(s), and affiliation(s), and statement of exclusivity. This form also includes a 200 word abstract (describe the subject, its importance, and how the work contributes to the field). This required information must be submitted at the website.
  2. No more than 4 pages will be accepted by the system. Make sure that the paper, including figures, does not exceed 4 pages, and the file size is less than 1 MB. For .pdf files, use Distiller and select gembed all fontsh. For .doc files, make sure there are no linked objects.

Paper Hardcopy Submission: If the hardcopy submission option is chosen, ten copies of the paper and five copies of the 200 word abstract with the complete mailing address, the phone number and the fax number of the corresponding author must be submitted in the form described above. The paper must be limited to four pages including text, references, and figures. Figures and photographs should be a convenient size and affixed on 21.5 ~ 28 cm (8.5 ~ 11 inch) white paper with captions in appropriate places. A letter accompanying the paper must indicate categorized key-words associated with this call for papers, along with the complete mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, and fax number of the corresponding author. Mail to the APMC 2002 Secretariat.

Open Forum

Open Forum provides an opportunity for authors to present theoretical or experimental material in poster format, or to perform demonstrations. Authors will discuss with interested colleagues in an informal manner. The submitting authors must choose one of two poster session styles, PS-1 or PS-2.

PS-1 PS-2
Style Poster Poster and demonstration
Aims Technical presentation Technical presentation with visual aids
Panel Size 0.9 m(W) ~ 2.1 m(H) 0.9 m(W) ~ 2.1 m(H)
Desk
1.8 m(W) ~ 0.6 m(D)
Weight Limit
50 kg
Available Electricity
100 V only, 1.0 kW

Presenter(s) of PS-2 should prepare their own visual aids. The committee will provide space, desk and electricity. For electricity more than 1.0 kW.

Kyoto

Kyoto is a world-wide popular tourist city situated about 500 km west of Tokyo and 40 km northeast of Osaka. It served as the capital of Japan from 794 to 1868 and was the birthplace of Japanese culture and traditions. Kyoto is the home of 20% of Japan's national treasures as well as many historical buildings and traditional arts and crafts. To the south of Kyoto lies historical Nara, the more ancient capital between 710 and 784. Kyoto in November attracts many tourists by beautiful autumnal colorings of maples and other trees.
