Research and Development on Radio Systems and Technologies from the Dawn of
Cellular Network to Growth Evolution Stage

In February, this year, Dr. Yoshihisa Okumura(a former leader of the mobile radio laboratory at NTT Public Corporation and currently professor emeritus at Kanazawa Institute of Technology), by "pioneering contributions to the world's first cellular telephone networks, systems and standards", won the U.S. National Academy of Engineering 2013 Charles Stark Draper Prize called Nobel Prize of the engineering field, for the first time as a Japanese researcher.
In this session, it looks back upon research and development of the mobile telephone in Japan in commemoration of this award, and people including Dr. Okumura who all have contributed in research and development of each generation's system from the dawn to the growth evolution stage give a lecture on the main topics about the radio interface and technology in each system.
